Greetings Families,
It is hard to believe it is already week 9. This is an unusual year, so we actually have two and a half weeks left, but the end is drawing near. I'm so proud of the achievements that the students have made this year and look forward to our final days together.

I did want to let you know about a new homework policy for the rest of the year, or at least over the next two weeks. A lot of students have fallen behind in completing homework, so students who have missing homework will not be expected to work on those assignments during recess to get caught up. I don't want students to receive lower grades than they deserve because they are struggling with responsibility as the year comes to an end. I also want to end on a good note so they come into fourth grade ready for the expectations there.

Language Arts
We will have 30 new Spalding spelling words this week. There will be a test Friday. There will be a test Friday. Students will be putting the final touches on their informative essay which is due on Tuesday. Their essay will be due Tuesday of next week. Scholars should continue working on their new poem, “Jimmy Jet and His TV Set.” Recitations will be on May 19th.
Math
This week, students will study the customary measurements for capacity by looking at gallons, quarts, pints, and cups.
Science
Students will investigate what happens when different things interrupt an ecosystem, whether natural or manmade, and how animals with certain traits are better able to survive changes. Students should start studying for the unit exams and start working on their animal reports.
History
Students should continue working on their posters at home. Their project and presentation will be due on May 17th. This week students will be reading and discussing information related to the Middle Colonies: New York and Pennsylvania. A study guide will be given on Tuesday with a test on May 18th.
