ELA: We have completed Narnia and will be writing reflection paragraphs about bravery. I hope you have been practicing our poem, “Stopping Through Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Recitations are Tuesday, December 15th. Scholars should turn in their published work as early as possible. The deadline for in-person scholars will be Tuesday, December 15th. There are no spelling words this week.
Math: The final week of the quarter will begin with a look at the order of operations. Students will be expected to know that you always solve problems with parentheses first, then do multiplication and division next, and lastly add and subtract (we will not cover exponents as this is a 5th-grade standard). We will cover the order of operations to prepare students for lessons on data, which will start this week and carry over into the third quarter. This week’s lessons will be on different kinds of data sets, charts, and graphs.
History: In-person students will be participating in a senate debate. Online students will create a brief video on how they would make their opening argument. Students should continue studying for the Roman unit final (https://quizlet.com/_96ir8t?x=1jqt&i=q6iq0).
Science: Students will prepare for and take the second part of the physical science unit exam focusing on waves, sound and light energy, and the visual and auditory systems (https://cloud.swivl.com/v/f3656b662fbd3b1bd4b3dc59cd78deb5).

I hope you are having a great weekend or had a great weekend. I'm personally looking forward to the end of the quarter and the holiday season. However, one week to go and it is pretty monumental with two very important tests for science and history.

Narnia Celebration
We will be having a celebration at the end of the week. Keep an eye out for emails from Ms. Pabin.
Winter Pack-Up
Students will be putting all of their belongings into bags to hang on the hooks at the back of the room. Please send in four plastic shopping bags or one sturdy reusable shopping back to leave in the classroom over the break.
