Quarter 2 Week 7 Update

Greetings Families,

I hope you had a great weekend. Here are the lessons for this week. Please remember that this is a short week. We only have school today, Monday, and tomorrow.

After the Thanksgiving celebration, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday deals, it will time to focus on generosity. Tuesday, December 1st is #GivingTuesday, a global day to celebrate the good in our community. Please celebrate with us and make your Community Investment gift to our school, using this link. Your contribution to Community Investment makes a difference to me inside our classroom; it supports my ability to teach your child with a teaching apprentice alongside me and for us to continue to offer a robust specials curriculum including music, French, art, and PE. Please consider giving to support the work of Archway Arete and teachers like me.

LESSONS

ELA: We will continue reading Narnia this week. No new Spalding spelling words for these next two days. We will be reciting "The First Thanksgiving of All," by Nancy Byrd Turner on Tuesday in celebration of Thanksgiving. Our next poem for December goes home this week: “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,” by Robert Frost. Students will recite this poem on December 15.

Math: Students will look at multiplying multiple numbers whose product is less than 1000 (ie. 4 x 25 x 6) and how to use estimation to check to see if an answer is reasonable.

History: Students will be presenting their two min. Roman Architecture projects with time-line, location on Mediterranean map, and interesting facts. Take note of the day written on the top of the project paper which is when they present.

Science: There is no science this week. Students may wish to begin studying for the first part of the unit final that will take place during week nine over 31 core vocabulary words. You can use this Quizlet to support their learning: https://quizlet.com/_936hdw?x=1qqt&i=q6iq0.
