Greetings Families,
I hope you have enjoyed your weekend. This week will be very quick with only two days. Your child will be happy to know that the Thanksgiving break is an R & R. However if you want them to do some work while they are away from school, I suggest Xtra Math and Khan Academy.
I don't have many notes for this week, so I will jump straight into the lessons.
Lessons
Grammar/Writing: Students will complete their second expository paper this week.
History: This week, the students will continue their study of Arizona.
Literature: It is the expectation that the students will finish reading Robin Hood this week, but with all of the activities they may not finish it until next week.
Math: Students will take the assessment on fractions of a set tomorrow. Following that, students will have a supplemental unit on multiplying fractions and one on subtracting fractions where regrouping is necessary.
Greek and Latin Roots: This week, students will take a review check on roots 1-44. The review check will be on Tuesday. Here is the Quizlet for them to use to review. There is a matching game embedded below.
Poetry: Some students were not able to recite "The Sin of Omission" last week, so tomorrow they will do so. The next poem is "The Flag Goes By," by Henry Holcomb Bennett. They will be expected to recite this during week nine. The poem can be found below along with a YouTube video of it being read.
Science: Students will complete their study of meteorology this week and review for the test that will be next week. I recommend that students start studying a little each night so that they don't have to cram when they get back from break. The study guide is pages 139-142 in the science notebook.
Spalding: There is no Spalding this week due to it only being two days long.

Monday: 4B Thanksgiving Meal - 11:15 a.m.-12:35 p.m.

Tuesday: Math Quiz - Review of Past Content

Wednesday-Friday: Thanksgiving Break - R & R

The flag is passing by!
Blue and crimson and white it shines,
Over the steel-tipped, ordered lines.
Hats off!
The colors before us fly;
But more than the flag is passing by.
Sea-fights and land-fights, grim and great,
Fought to make and to save the State:
Weary marches and sinking ships;
Cheers of victory on dying lips;
Days of plenty and years of peace;
March of a strong land's swift increase;
Equal justice, right and law,
Stately honor and reverend awe;
Sign of a nation, great and strong
To ward her people from foreign wrong:
Pride and glory and honor,--all
Live in the colors to stand or fall.
