Greetings Families,
It is hard to believe, but the big day is finally here. Tomorrow is the start of the Europe Project presentations. After eight school weeks and a week of fall break, students will finally have the opportunity to present their hard work. I am so expected to see their work presented.
Here are some notes about the upcoming week.
Europe Presentations

- If your child is bringing a food item tomorrow, please provide a complete recipe list if the item is homemade.
Spelling Bee
Dear Parents,
It is my pleasure to announce that Spelling Bee season is upon us! Your child will be participating in a class Spelling Bee during the week of November 18th. Please use the word list sent home with them on Friday to study and make sure to read over the Spelling Bee letter for important dates and details. It is not mandatory for your child to study at home, however, we recommend that all children participate in the class bee! Please reach out to me at any time if you have questions or concerns.

Lessons
Writing/Grammar: This week, students will resume their water conservation expository essays.
History: Students will be giving their Europe project presentations this week.
Literature: The adventures of Robin will continue as students read chapters 14 and 15 this week.
Math: Students will complete their study of improper fractions this week. I've placed the practice test I will assign Wednesday night below for you to review as you help your child prepare. Here are the videos I put on the blog last week that may be helpful: changing an improper fraction to a mixed number and changing a mixed number to an improper fraction.
Greek and Latin Roots: Students will be assessed on roots 36-38 this week.
Poetry: This week, students should be working toward memorizing "The Sin of Omission." The recitations will be next week.
Science: Last week, students learned the layers of the atmosphere. This week, they will learn that the atmosphere is constantly putting pressure on us that we are oftentimes unaware of. This is called atmospheric pressure and is measured with a barometer. Students will also be looking at wind this week. There is a quiz on Thursday. The study questions are below.
Spalding: Students will learn 20 words this week and be assessed on Friday.
