I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. We only have two more weeks until we are finished. This week will include the last science test, two math test, and, probably most concerning to many of the students, the Greek and Latin roots quiz. After this week, the students will have more learning to be done, but currently, there are no tests planned for the final week of school.
Also, for the moms, happy Mother's Day. I hope Sunday is an enjoyable time for you. You should take some time to sit back and reflect on what you've done for the past 8-10 years of your child's life. You've done some amazing things and I know this because of what I see every day in my students. Your hard work and love have equipped your child to be a great scholar, but also, more importantly, a wonderful person. You've been an awesome mom, so, I'll say it again, happy Mother's Day!

Here are the lessons for this week.
Lessons
Language Arts: In language arts, students embark on a new adventure with Rip Van Winkle. They will also write a 3 paragraph essay comparing the Wizard of Oz movie to the book. In Spalding there will be more words and more markings.
Science: The students have completed the respiratory unit in regard to lessons. This week, we will spend time Monday and Tuesday preparing for the unit exam. Each student has a copy of the completed study guide and should be referencing that each night in preparation for the exam. The exam will take place on Wednesday. This is a day earlier than originally planned, but I would like to keep Wednesday night free to study for the roots quiz.
History: The students completed the early presidents unit last week and this week they will spend some time reviewing some of the things we have learned this year. There will be worksheets for them to complete in class each day, but there are no more assessments in history.
Math: In math this week, the students will be taking two tests. The first one is Monday, and it will cover material from the whole year but will focus on content from Unit 11. On Tuesday through Thursday, the students will review Singapore specific content for the end of year Singapore Exam. This exam does not count toward their grade but is used by the school and Great Hearts to evaluate student performance in regard to Singapore skills and to evaluate teaching strategies.
