Quarter 4, Week 7 Lessons

Greetings Families,

Wow, there are only four weeks left. It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the school year. This is a time of year when I'm excited about summer, but at the same time sorrowing at the thought of my students departing. Even today, my wife asked me if I'm excited about school nearing its end. This has been such a great year and it will be hard to let this class go. They have given me such great joy this year. Thank you for allowing me to be their teacher.

Please remember that the spring concert is this Wednesday at the Higley Center for the Performing Arts.

Here are the lessons for the upcoming week.

Lessons

Language Arts: In language arts, students should be studying regularly for the 100 Greek and Latin Roots quiz. You can expect to see some short quizzes coming home to help them prepare for this quiz. We will continue in Spalding as usual. In Literature, students will continue reading The Wizard of Oz, and discuss characterization. Students will write a how-to essay.

Science: Having completed the science test covering the circulatory system, the students will start their study of the respiratory system. They will learn the pathway of air to the alveoli and how the air is cleaned, warmed, and moistened.

History: Students will learn about how the capitol was planned and built in DC, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and the next two presidents of the United States. They should continue filling out their presidential profiles packets as we read with any new facts they find about each president. Students will take a quiz on Friday covering history chapters 1-8.

Math: In math, students will take the math test covering line graphs on Monday. After completing that test, students will prepare for the Unit 10 cumulative assessment, which will be Tuesday. The rest of the week will be spent reviewing unit conversion and adding and subtracting mixed units.
