I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Hopefully the weekend has provided at least some time for rest and preparation for the week. This marks the final week of the first quarter. I'm sure students will be very excited for the fall break, so please encourage them to do their best in class and on their work as the finish the first quarter strong.
Here are the lessons for the week:
History: Students will take a closer look at the lives of knights and the role of cities and guilds during the Middle Ages. They will also participate in Chivalry week--this is typically a fun week full of activities in which they explore the importance of community and honor during the Middle Ages.
Science: During the last week of quarter one, students will take a closer look at the flower with consideration of the plant's life cycle and plant reproduction. Students will do a plant dissection toward the end of the week.
Math: It has originally been my hope to have the math test on Monday before moving into a deeper study of multiplication. However, the lesson Friday was rushed due to the typing of the opinion essays earlier in the day. As a result, the test will be on Tuesday. That will give students some additional time to review on Monday in class and for homework.
Language Arts: In literature, students will finish Emil and the Detectives. In grammar, students will be writing a second opinion essay.

Conferences
Following fall break, we will have conferences after school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Currently, the headmasters have not told us specifically what hours we will be holding those sessions. However, if there is a conflict in your schedule that does not allow for one of those times, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate your needs.
Robin Hood
Please have your child bring Robin Hood in by Wednesday of next week so that they are prepared to begin reading it with the class after the break.
