Wow! We've made it to the end. It seems like just yesterday that I was getting to meet most of you for the first time at meet the teacher. Now, ten months later, it is time to bid farewell. It is hard to believe. Your children have become very dear to my heart. I will look forward to seeing them next year as they prosper and grow in fourth grade. I'm sure they will make me proud.
This week, with all of the half days and other activities, like the celebration, we have a lot less learning happening, but they are still school days. As just noted, we are having our celebration this week. The class moms are taking care of providing the food and activities for Thursday, but they are asking that you send $4 in with your child to offset the cost. The celebration is from 10:25-11:55 a.m. on Thursday. We need five people to volunteer to help serve and lead the celebration, but everyone is welcome to come. If you aren't fingerprinted, you also are welcome, but you will have to be escorted by Mrs. Geyer or me.

Tuesday: Literature - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Wednesday: Science
Thursday: Celebration
Lessons
Language Arts: Students will be finishing up their The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe activities and review for the assessment, which is Tuesday. In Spalding this week, we will still be learning new words, but we will not have an assessment on Friday. We will be reviewing direct objects in grammar and will be reading and writing summaries from The Story of the World.
Math: In math, we are continuing our look at money and will end the week by discussing aspects of time that we skipped over earlier this quarter: seconds, days, weeks, months, and years. There will be no final assessment over these lessons.
Science: In science, we have come to the conclusion of our study of astronomy. We will end this week with a reading about Mae Jamison, the first African American woman to go to outer space. She has a pretty awesome story if you never read about her. The students will be assessed on Wednesday.
