Greetings,
First, let me apologize for this being late. I will do my best to not let it happen again in the little about of time we have left this semester.
Second, let me say thank you for the kind cards from your children. It warmed my hear to be able to read through them with the class on Friday. I am far to blessed by the kindness of your children and you. With only a couple of months left, my heart fears future years. How am I to ever love a class as much as I have loved this one. I will also grow sad for missing them, as even short breaks seem long. It is both a blessing and a curse to have such a wonderful class as my first.

Spalding
The class will be learning spelling words and reviewing phonograms as normal.
Literature
The class will be reviewing the final chapters of The Jungle Book for the assessment on Thursday. Students filled out a study guide on Friday before break and should be using that each night to prepare.
Writing and Grammar
Students are continuing to refine their ability to summarize a short passage and copying form dictation. They are also reviewing dictionary skills. We will also be working on some comprehension skills.
Math
The class was introduced to fractions on the Friday before break. Today, we reviewed what we learned on that Friday and continued to discuss fractions as parts of a whole. Students will also be assessed on fractions Friday.
History
The class is continuing its study of early American explorers with a closer look at De Soto, the search for El Dorado, Spanish forts in Florida, Cabot and Hudson.
Science
The class is beginning its study of astronomy. Today we discussed the battling theories of geo- and heliocentric. We will also be discussing the earth's rotation, axis, and seasons.
