Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback we received from you at Coffee Shop Conversations. The 3rd grade team has reviewed your feedback with Mr. Gillingham and we would like to communicate a few things to you. Below is a brief overview of some of the accommodations we are making to better serve the students:
History
History study guides will now include only the information that will be covered on the test; these study guides will also have the information presented in the same format that they will appear on the test (matching, fill in the black, true/false, essay).
Math
Math Tests have been reformatted to allow more room for all of the word problem steps.
Math homework is regularly reviewed in class, students are responsible for grading their own homework along with the teacher.
Students are encouraged to take their notebooks and textbooks home nightly to help guide them through the homework process.
Movement
As teachers, we understand how important movement is. As a general rule, all teachers in the 3rd grade section have students moving about every 20 minutes. This is done through regular stretch breaks and allowing students to move about the classroom for various supplies.
Specials
All lead teachers have links on their blogs to the specials teacher’s blogs.
Testing Schedule
Third grade students will only have one assessment per day with the exception of spelling tests, which are scheduled every Friday.
Typing
Students will be assigned occasional homework assignments throughout the year to keep the skills they learned in typing class fresh.
Parents are encouraged to have students practice typing at home when possible.
