Monday-Friday
Dibbles: the Middle of the Year reading assessment to ensure that students are reading at grade level. Though this is one of the most important things we do, it will not impact grades. Please just ensure that students are getting good rest and eating a good breakfast.

Here are the lessons for the week:
Language Arts
Idiom: "When in Rome, do as the Romans do."
Poem: from Julius Caesar (Act III, ii, 76-110), by William Shakespeare. Each class is memorizing a section and will recite together on Friday.
Spalding: students will learn 30 words and review phonograms
Literature: we are finishing Pinocchio and preparing for the quiz that will be next Monday.
Writing and Grammar: students will continue to strengthen their ability to summarize and write what they hear. When possible, have students summarize what they read during their nightly reading time to strengthen their ability to put their thoughts into words. Students will be reviewing what they have learned throughout the year and address adverbs more deeply.
Math
Students will be assessed on multiplication and division, with a focus on the number 9. We will be considering the numbers 11 and 12, and focus on multiplying multiple numbers together, such as: 2 x 3 x 4 = 24.
History
We are continuing our lessons on Rome. This week we will be discussing the great engineering feats of the Romans, gladiators, famous buildings, and Pompeii. On Friday, we will be having our Rome Day Festivities. The classroom moms will have a signup for that soon, and I will have another post giving more details.
Science
In science this week we are finishing up our discussion on muscles. There is an assessment Tuesday. Will will transition to the nervous system and the final for the quarter will be next Tuesday.
